To market, To market!!

Do you have nothing to do on Saturday??
How about you pop in to the KickstART Youth Markets (see more info here) that are being held at the Perth Cultural Centre this Saturday 10am-2pm.

Another Perth blogger Jessie will be selling some vintage goodies, so be sure to check out her stall :)

Hopefully I will pick up some loot & will show you all!!

Paint me a rainbow!

Currently my favourite activity is playing around with different hair & makeup looks at home, not that that translates to any change in my regular makeup at all!

Pink lips on an otherwise natural face
Slick hair with a bright face
Purple lips!! Although Frida could probably make any colour look good...
It's a bit hard to see, but her slick hair & bright lipstick looks great together, like the photo above!

I am noticing a trend towards bright lipstick in these photos...are you? Hopefully I garner up the courage to try it!!

RANDOM POLL
Red lips (or any other bright/dark colour): Man-Repeller or Man-Propeller?

Must must must

I MUST MUST MUST do this DIY. I have soo many studding DIY pictures saved in my inspiration folder, but have I done any yet? No! The following picture is my favourite idea yet, and I will do it.
You mysterious readers will keep me accountable.

Also love this girl's barely-there makeup and messy ponytail.

More adventures abroad...

I stumbled across these beautiful videos by EF International Language Centres, and the travel-bug inside me is stirring again! (this being just over 2 months since I got back from London...)

Anyway, my dad keeps suggesting we go to China at the end of the year.  I haven't been before, but judging from reports from my friends and photos from Le Blog de Betty, I'm getting pretty keen!

Enjoy the videos:

The Great Gatsby

This coming weekend, some of our friends are off to a The Great Gatsby-themed party. I absolutely loved studying this book in high school... if you haven't read it, it's a very good read!
(T hasn't read this book and now feels she has missed out on a significant part of life.)

Now, more importantly... what to wear?
The Great Gatsby is set in the roaring 20s, a time when "jazz music blossomed, the flapper redefined modern woman-hood & Art Deco peaked" (thanks wikipedia)

Some pictures from the film version of The Great Gatsby to get your mind in gear:
Film pictures from here
And a 20's-themed editorial featuring Kate Hudson

Now some more practical outfit ideas:

For the Girls
- Slinky knee-length sheath dresses or a simple shift
- Long dangly necklaces
- Hats of all kinds (especially the cloche style!) & curly hair
- T-bar heels (of which I have none)
- Drop-waist dresses
- Gloves, hats, headbands... i.e. as many accessories as possible!

pictures from here

For the boys
- Smart suits with bow ties
- Light coloured country-club type outfits
- Braces!! (of the pants-holding-up type of course)
- Waistcoats

The only problem is... All these ideas, but still nothing to wear!!

There's glitter on the floor!

I used to think these were my favourite shoes, until I met these...
(oh and excuse the Ke$ha reference above)

Beautiful Witchery Dorothy ballets. It's love!! ( for the gift & the giver ;) )

Some other additions to my Shoe-drobe lately. Mainly practical, closed in ones required for the hospital...but cute all the same!!

If Raquel Zimmermann wore it...

Challenge
from: style.com

Then it must be cool right?

S's challenge in that last blog post of hers resulted in me putting together this outfit:
Challenge1
Shirt & Skirt - Cue; Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell; Belt - thrifted

Time for me to think up an outfit she can be counter-bullied into wearing!

Assorted Inspirazione

I would currently be about 12 on a happy scale of 1-10 if I were wearing any of the following outfits. Not that outfits make us happy but if a good one puts you in a good mood for an entire day...what's there to lose!?
Blouses & mini skirts...the perfect combination!
Big hair & a scarf headband
Zara. Whites & brights.
Bright stark red. I know I'm not alone on this one.

T has a skirt this EXACT colour. She's yet to pair it orange though ;) I will bully her to do so and show you the results hopefully soon!

Forget the Air!

We love this song. And so should you!! Every time I listen to it I turn all lovey-dovey and start making grand proclamations of love. Sometimes, it even spirals into a long session of looking at cutesy pictures on blogs like this, or this, or this.

I know... it's lame/vomit-inducing... But I'm sure you'll feel the same if you, too, like cheesy pop music :)

Like the song? Then you'll love these pictures!

Thank goodness I have work and study to do this weekend or my bank account will suffer!
Perhaps I'll donate to aid work for Japan instead.

On our minds right now...

Isn't there just something so poignant about this photo?

We. Love. Magazines...

...Especially free ones!!!
If you are looking for an online, easy-to-read-&-navigate trend report, have a look at My Wardrobe's 2011 SS Style Guide!! It's free, you can zooooom in on cool pictures, you can click to buy straight from it (*sigh* I want everything!) and it has nifty 'runway to real way' type features.

T & I are both absolutely drooling over this Milly skirt, which also comes as a dress. It's so feminine, but not old-lady-ish at all!!

Also on the magazine front, yesterday I was greeted by an InStyle delivery (thanks big bro!) after a long 14 hour day.
Let me tell you, there was nothing that could have improved my mood more...

My Latest Loot: The Adventures of a Bored S!

This loot shoot is a prime example of why I should not loiter aimlessly in the city. Blame P, he kept me waiting!! And as a result, I came a cross a new(ish) little accessorie shop in the city called Lovisa. It is a treasure trove of bargains and is like Diva, minus the dice earrings and plastic bangles.

I can already tell that much money will be spent there...

After that, I was clearly not satisfied. And buying 2 hair accessories in one day was not enough...so I ventured to my local op-shop on the way home.

A pristine white silk scarf I came across. I think it just about completes my rainbow collection!!

A metallic slinky t-shirt that will come in handy for a simple night-time outfit.

More loot next week...I HOPE!

xx S

*Note from T: S did get more loot today at the Mt Claremont Vinnies!!*
