2WW: Birds on a Wire

Le Fanciulle (7 of 11).jpgLe Fanciulle (1 of 11).jpg

When C of Birds on a Wire lent us a few things to wear to the Divine Dreaming fashion event, we didn't count on it being negative a zillion degrees and rainy.  Oh and pitch black, yeah.  Not quite outfit photo conditions.
(Although Miss Mon Bon did snap us here & here whilst inside)

Anyway, this fashernn disaster actually worked out quite well.  We realised the silk two pieces were perfect to spice up a 2 Way Wednesday post, to show two ways to wear a two piece and two ways to Winter-ise some Summer clothes (well, add a jacket to T's outfit and you'd be ready to go)!  Hope you like our takes on these cute garments, that are actually available on etsy.

Through the Looking Glass with Phoebe Barratt

Le Fanciulle (16 of 17).jpg

It's Tuesday again, and that means another one of our kooky interviews with some of Perth's creative folk - both emerging and established!  It also means that we probably should get our heads out of the clouds and back into surgery-mode after receiving our job offers for next year...  S & T will not be split across Perth and will be back to our usual mischief in 2014!

More on that tomorrow!  Today's focus is on our talented friend, Phoebe Barratt, whose designs you might remember from our photos of last year's Challenger Tafe graduation show.  Ever wondered where life could take you when you graduate with a fashion degree under your belt?  We sure did!  We caught up with Phoebe to see what she was getting up to in her first year out of design school.

Outfit: Winter Morning

Le Fanciulle (3 of 66).jpg
Le Fanciulle (18 of 66).jpg

Before Domenico & Stefano became embroiled in a gigantic tax kerfuffle, they were busy making tapestry/brocade cool again and 'lampshade' a legitimate dress shape.  Meanwhile, Primark (the UK high street retailer similar to Valleygirl) was busy taking "inspiration" from D&G collections and churning out cute grandma-esque tapestry lampshades.  I was in the UK at the time with a suitcase full of boring clothes & snapped one up for a quick fix.  Shameful, yes.  Can't believe it even survived my recent wardrobe purge!

DIY Friday: Simple Sporty Tee #2

1B6A3267_edit

Excuse the repost of the above photo from our shoot last week, but there's something extra nifty about the above picture.  Both of the tees are DIYs!  (#1 was posted last week)
Yup, that's right, you can get in on the sporty tee craze without spending zillions.

Seeing as our free time is currently dying a scrub-cap death, only quick (not to mention cheap) DIYs are on the cards.
Today's tshirt is the quickest ever.  Barely even worth explaining.

Materials
Iron on letter ($3 from Spotlight)
Tshirt ($3 from Vinnies)
A functional iron

G Tshirt DIY
G Tshirt DIY
G Tshirt DIY
G Tshirt DIY
G Tshirt DIY

VoilĂ , your sporty tshirt for a measly $6.

You could make a whole word across the front or back, if you wished.  Another idea is to use large iron on numbers a la last year's project.  The possibilities are endless!

Happy weekend :)

LF Loves Times Square Claremont

image

A spot of afternoon tea & a tour around Times Square Claremont courtesy of the lovely Nikola Willis was just what the doctor ordered for our first weekend of our last semester (ever!!).  Thirty bloggers & stylists descended upon Avion Way - the home of some of Perth's best retailers - to get a taste of the many Winter collections & sale-steals to be had.

Peruse through our photos for shopping inspiration when you're next in the golden triangle.  Plus get a glimpse of some of the faces behind Perth blogging & styling - some seasoned & some new!

Through the Looking Glass with Shift Creative

20130712-IMG_4388
Juliet (left) + Jess (right)

There is much more to editorials than lanky models being clotheshorses; the breadth of behind-the-scenes work to produce such photos can sometimes be phenomenal.  Hiding behind the scenes is exactly where these two pocket-rockets fit in!  Today, we introduce you to Juliet Chen (toting the cute factor of Mira Duma) & Jess Yeh (an equally cool and capable maven behind the lens) of SHIFT Creative - one of Perth's premier production companies.  Churning out editorial work that would be right at home in Vogue or Harper's Bazaar, this dynamic duo have garnered the interest of the Perth fashion folk in just a short span of time.

We caught up with photographer Jess & art director/digital artist Juliet over tea and mille-feuille to talk about their work.
Expect to see great things from these two!

Outfit: Hat Trick

These outfit photos seem to be the only proof that holidays were, in fact, very recently.  It's strange how returning to semester can make you feel you never had a holiday at all!

Le Fanciulle (31 of 66).jpg

Japanese street fashion was definitely on my mind when I pulled this get-up on.  I guess I could have gone more full-on with patterned socks and more layers, but I'll save that for my potential Japan trip at the end of the year.  I also attempted a faux-jumpsuit - the well-matched colours are a result of a Country Road binge before I went to Cambodia last year, so it's made it easy for these sort of combos to be put together.

Divine Dreaming

We went from scrubs to scrubbed-up in 60 minutes on Friday night for the Divine Dreaming Cocktail Charity event.  Held at the stately Government House Ballroom, guests were treated to a night of fashion, music, and bidding-fun in support of the David Wirrpanda Foundation.  The foundation is focused on bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians - an important step forward for our community!

Fashion was on show from local labels Little Gracie, Petra Vanessie, Leo & Spargo, and Blair Nelson.
It was such a great night to celebrate young talented people from our state!

Petra Vanessie designs is about having fun with colour in an elegant way, as you can see by the vibrant orange dresses that were on show. (above)  There were so many ladies at the event in beautiful Petra Vanessie dresses and they really did stand out in a sea of black.

Below, you may see some AFL footballers that you recognise (although we doubt our blog is populated by many AFL fans!), so let us know which ones you know so we can name them.  As you have probably guessed, we're clueless...

Little Gracie, always a crowd pleaser due to the gorgeous flirty dresses, showcased some new polka dot designs, which we loved.  Polka dots forever.
