There's no reason why you can't just make your own prints.  Go to town with some fabric paint this weekend!

2WW: Liu, We Love Yiu

What on EARTH is going on with Two Way Wednesday, you ask?  Well today we're showing you two ways to be Liu Wen.  Rather, two ways Liu Wen likes to be Liu Wen.  So practical.

Seriously though, these two outfits (our favs of hers ever) are like chalk and cheese, but she pulls of both.
Challenge: See if you can pick which outfit is more "T" and which is more "S".

Photos from here & here

There are quite a few lessons to be learnt from the above photos, but our favourite is her huge grin!  Liu Wen never seems to be without a smile on her dial.  Glad to see someone enjoys being a model, as opposed to the gaunt smokers of this world...

Serious Musings about Hair

Le Fanciulle (4 of 25).jpg

This post should definitely be dedicated to cool spotlights found in creepy car parks, as well as the shadows they create, but since there's pretty much nothing more I have to say on the matter, it will be dedicated to hair instead.
More specifically, embracing one's hair.  After a long battle with the hermione-esque mane that I was granted at birth, the journey to hair peace has begun. Accepting the truth of your own hair can be tough, especially when you've always admired hair the complete opposite to your own.  But the real issue is that fighting your natural hair can turn into a daily battle which escalates into a huge time (life) waster.  That is time you'll never get back, ladies.

These days, I save the nuclear attack on my hair (weapon of choice: GHD) for rare occasions and even then, I try to enhance what I was given instead of attempting to transform into BeyoncĂ© pre-crop.  It's easier, your hair stays happier and you're left with more time to eat/drink tea/sleep.

If all else fails, there's always a bun.

And now, the outfit.

Sweet As Candy

T & I have an abundance of occasions coming up which will require something special to wear, so we have had our eyes peeled for a while now looking for any gems that will lead us to sartorial success.  Event-dressing is harder than normal day wear, as you have a set dress code & time of day to work with, not to mention a budget!!

Although we hope to source outfits from our existing 'drobes as much as possible (not fans of one-wear items), the delicate blue lace dress in Lover's first ever campaign caused me to become acutely enamoured with pastels... and off I went on a little rampage to see what the www had in store.

(T bought me the above candle for my birthday!  Lucky me!  Now I just need a picturesque white house covered in bunches of peonies so I can burn it in style.)

Do you have any places you can count on for event dressing?  We'd love to hear your ideas :)

DIY Inspiration: Raw Edges

tumblr_mr8usjGILX1qfu6pbo3_1280

Could we just stop for a moment and admire this photo together?
No, it's surprisingly not MMM or an equally similar minimalist label at heart, but rather everyone's chain-store high street favourite, Zara.  (We'll also ignore their questionable production ethics for a day).

Anyway, check out those raw edges on those skirts - a simple DIY for all those too lazy to sew properly!  Take a trip to your local thrift store and hack away at those hems.  And whilst you're at it, tell me the secrets to the eyebrows that the brunette is sporting.

Jomay Cao Store Opening

Le Fanciulle (1 of 38).jpg

Last night the Jomay Cao flagship store opened its doors to the adoring fash-pack.  Bubbles and macarons were inhaled, whilst guests took a look at Jomay's new collection.  From our preliminary assessment, form and function as well as texture are all big players in this shop!
Sparse words today as I'm about to run off for uni, so I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Goot Vibes

Le Fanciulle (5 of 8).jpg

It's not often that S & I have "slow" blogging weeks which coincide, but you've probably noticed by our ample excuses that this has been the case for the last month.  I can't say it's conducive to posting when you're separated from your blogging buddy by both time & space, but we're working on motivating ourselves a bit more as we hit the home run to graduation.  Expect to see our Tuesday interview series return soon, as well as some DIY projects once we console ourselves over having to be at the hospital at ungodly hours.  Like 7am.  Seriously, what is wrong with some people?

On a more relevant note to this post, Josh Goot makes some pretty crazy prints & some very quality apparel.
He also has a very pun-able name...  Feel free to litter the comments below with some goot (or bad) puns.

Simon also got me a fish-eye lens for my birthday; it is quite the source of amusement.

Be Brave!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Hurrah, time to hermit for two days!

It is safe to say I've acutely developed an unhealthy obsession with Sara Bareilles.  More specifically, the song Brave & its accompanying video.  So uplifting and happy!

The making of video (below) is almost as good as the final product.

Have a fabulous weekend :)

Wear spots with baggy printed pants and brogues.  Dance in the street!  Do something crazy.

Travel Diary: Gold Coast

Le Fanciulle (17 of 79).jpg

From my Instagram feed, you probably already worked out that I was: A. not getting rained on in Perth over the weekend; but rather B. treating my vitamin D-depleted body to some sunshine on the Gold Coast.  I'm going to go ahead & rub it in by mentioning that the weather was magnificent - so lovely, in fact, that it was a shame that most of my time was spent indoors learning about hearts & stuff like that.  Although I've got to hand it to the cardiac society - they do put on a good conference!  (read: it was med student heaven - we had food coming out of our ears).

What time I did have off, however, was spent lapping up said rays of mid-Winter happiness at the beach, Seaworld, and various Asian restaurants (where surprisingly good Japanese, Korean & Chinese were hunted down & devoured).  We also put to rest some shopping urges at the Harbour Town which stomps all over Perth's reincarnation.  Good timing, as I packed TOO LIGHTLY (exhibit A in the photos below) & was running out of clothes - one of the fatal errors that comes with this "capsule wardrobe" obsession of mine.  Oh well, I had enough underwear & made it back to Perth in time for my birthday, so I guess it was a great weekend!

WOAH

Black & white may be all the rage, but will bright colours ever go out of fashion?

Red and pink

Roksanda Ilincic gown - would totally buy this for our uni ball if funds were unlimited & I weren't morally opposed to spending that much on a dress :|

Topshop one piece - perfect for a tropical holiday?
Could complete the colour trifecta with some orange sunburn....just kidding.  SPF 999 all the way.

DIY Leather & Chain Cuff

Chain leather cuff (7 of 7)

It's a super rainy Friday & today we have a very simple Fendi-inspired leather and chain cuff to show you, which is the perfect easy project for an indoor weekend.  When it comes to DIYs, patience is a virtue I'm severely lacking (unless we're talking hand stitching or beading... I could do that til the cows come home), so I have a tendency towards quick & easy DIYs.  Today is no exception!!

Chain leather cuff (1 of 7)

Materials
1x chunky chain bracelet
Small piece of leather
(I harvested some from a failed leather pants -> shorts conversion)
Needle & thread

Chain leather cuff (2 of 7)
Chain leather cuff (3 of 7)
Chain leather cuff (4 of 7)
Chain leather cuff (5 of 7)
Chain leather cuff (6 of 7)

The photos illustrate the very few steps.  The best thing about this project is that if it fails or you hate it, just snip the threads and you have your bracelet back, haha!

I can easily imagine this cuff worn with a plain black dress at night time or (as above) with jeans for day.

Happy weekend :)
